Has the UN lived up to our expectations?

“We the peoples of the United Nations,  determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, [..] reaffirm [our] faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women  and of nations large and small, … have resolved to combine our efforts to accomplish these aims” Preamble to the Charter of the United Nations

Article 1: The Purposes of the United Nations are:

  1. To maintain international peace and security,….
  2. To develop friendly relations among nations ….
  3. To achieve international co-operation in solving international problems ….
  4. To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations… Ref: Chapter 1, Charter of the United Nations

    No,You just need to observe what is taking place in Syria in order to evaluate UN’s purpose.

    United Nations is trying to live up to the expectations of its founders,but the leaders of different countries are becoming an impediment to its success
